ORDERS OF REFERENCE. Extracts from Ike Journals of the House of Representatives. Friday, the 14th Day of July, 1922. Ordered, " That Standing Order No. 219 be suspended, and that a Goldfields and Mines Committee bo appointed, consisting of twelve members, to whom shall be referred all matters relating to mining, and all Bills relating to mines ; with power to call for persons and papers ; three to be a quorum : the Committee to consist of Mr. Bollard, Mr. J. McC. Diokson, Mr. Edie, Mr. A. Hamilton, Mr. Holland, Mr. Horn, Mr. Hudson, Mr. Poland, Mr. Reed, Mr. T. W. Rhodes, Mr. Seddon, and the mover." —(Hon. Mr. Anderson.) Thursday, the 7th Day or September, 1922. Ordered, " That the Coal-mines Amendment Bill be referred to the Goldfields and Mines Committee."—(Hon. Mr. Anderson.) Wednesday, the 4th Day of October, 1922. Ordered, " That Paper No. 269, Regulations under the Mining Act, 1908, bo referred to tho Goldfields and Mines Committee." —(Hon. Mr. Anderson.) Monday, the 9th Day of October, 1922. Ordered, " That the Stone-quarries Amendment Bill and the Mining Amendraont Bill be referred to the Goldfields and Mines Committee." —-(Hon. Mr. Anderson.)

EEPOETB. No. 162. —Petition of Edwin John Renshaw, of Thames, and 2 Others. Praying that a certain disability under the goldfields Acts may be removed from the freehold title of certain land at Karaka North No. 1 Block, Thames. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for further inquiry. 26th September, 1922.

Coal-mines Amendment Bill. The Goldfields and Mines Committee, to which was referred the Coal-mines Amendment Bill, has the honour to report that, having carefully considered the same, it recommends that it be allowed to proceed with the amendments shown on the copy attached hereto. 26th September, 1922.

Paper 269 (Amended Regulations under the Mining Act, 1908). W The Goldfields and Mines Committee has the honour to report that, having given careful consideration to the above regulations, referred to it by your honourable House, it has not any amendments to suggest. The Committee therefore recommends that the said regulations be approved. 13th October, 1922. ft
