ORDERS OF REFERENCE. Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Thursday, the 11th Day of August, 1927. Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of eight members, with power to confer ancl sit together with any similar Committee appointed by the Legislative Council, to inquire into the shipping facilities at present existing between South Island ports and Australia, and to report as to the means of improving same ; the Committee to have power to call for persons and papers, and to agree to a joint or separate report; three to be a quorum: the Committee to consist of Mr. Howard, Mr. E. P. Lee, Mr. J. McC. Dickson, Mr. Nash, Mr. Savage, Mr. Sidey, the Right Hon. Sir Joseph Ward, and the mover." —(Hon. Mr. McLeod.) Monday, the 17th Day of Octodeb, 1927. Ordered, " That the order of reference of the South Island-Australia Shipping Facilities Committee be amended by inserting after the words ' improving the same ' the words ' and also as to what ports in the South Island it is practicable to be included in the itinerary of the N.Z.M.S. " Maui Pomare " in connection with the Pacific islands trade.' " —(Right Hon. Mr. Coates.) Extracts from the Journals of the Legislative Council. Wednesday, the 24th Day of August, 1927. Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of six members, witii power to confer and sit together with any similar Committee appointed by the House of Representatives, to inquire into the shipping facilities at present existing between South Island ports and Australia, and to report as to the means of improving the same ; the Committee to have power to call for persons and papers, and to agree to a joint or separate report; three to be a quorum : the Committee to consist of the Hon.
