There was no further reference to Western Samoa in the course of the debate. Dr. Nansen was appointed Rapporteur, and at the next meeting produced his report, which contains the following reference to Samoa : " The committee was glad to note the statement made by the representative of New Zealand concerning the special steps which the Government of that country is taking in order to provide the Mandates Commission with full information in regard to the recent difficulties in Western Samoa." Dr. Nansen's report, which was adopted by the committee with a few modifications, was presented to the Assembly at its meeting on the 23rd September (Document A. 76 (1) ).
