Service permits as oil-well managers were issued under the Mining Act during the year to J. R. Thompson, Morere, and J. W. Rawlinson, New Plymouth. Mr. W. T. Neill (Surveyor-General) who had been a member of both Boards for some eight years retired on superannuation on the 31st December last. Regulations were issued during the year giving effect to the provisions of the Mining Amendment Act, 1927, relating to the issue of dredgemasters' certificates.
