3 —E. 3.
Notes. —(1) For the purpose of this return half-caste children and children intermediate in blood between half-caste and Maori are reckoned as Maori, and children intermediate in blood between half-caste and European as European. (2) In previous reports this table has been prepared to show the information as at the 31st December of the year concerned. For the Department's purposes, however, it has been found more convenient to obtain the information as at the 30th June in each year instead of at the end of the year. The information is accordingly presented in the following table as at the 30th June, 1928. Race. Totals. School. Maoris. Europeans. Boys, j Girls. Total. Boys. Girls. Total. Boys, i Girls. Total.
