No. 28.—Petition of Emily H. A. Wright, of Burnham. Praying that her back services may count for teachers' superannuation purposes. I am directed to report that, the honourable member in charge of the petition having expressed a desire to withdraw the same, the Committee recommends that the honourable member be allowed to do so. 2nd October, 1929.

No. 29.—Petition of William Stirling, of Blackball. Praying that broken service be counted for teachers' superannuation purposes. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for most favourable consideration. 2nd October, 1929.

No. 37.—Petition of Joseph McLauchlan, of Glen Eden, Auckland. Praying that his case be reviewed with a view to reinstatement and compensation. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 2nd October, 1929.

No. 54. —Petition of A. M. Cowan, of Kumeu. Praying for an allowance by way of pension or otherwise for services rendered as a school-teacher at Niue. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 2nd October, 1929.

No. 290. —Petition of Mary Finlay, of Sawyer's Bay, Dunedin. Praying for a compassionate allowance in respect of her late husband's services as a schoolmaster. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for most favourable consideration. 2nd October, 1929.

No. 356. —Petition of (Mrs.) Margaret Warner, of Lower Hutt. Praying that she be reappointed as a school-teacher, or be granted a pension. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 7th November, 1929.

No. 359. —Petition of George Gordon Grant, of " Reidhaven," Birdwood Crescent, Auckland. Praying that he be permitted opportunity to complete the Law Professional Examination for solicitors under the regulations obtaining prior to the year 1926. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 7th November, 1929.

No. 409.—Petition of Catherine Lavery, of Patea Public School. Praying for an increased retiring-allowance for services rendered as a school-teacher. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 7th November, 1929.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Education Committee desires to record its hearty appreciation of the able and tactful manner in which the Chairman, Mr. Bodkin, has controlled the business of the Committee during the session.
