The total number of primary schools receiving instruction in elementary agriculture and elementary science in each district was as follows, the figures for the previous year being shown in brackets : Auckland, 483 (471); Taranaki, 162 (168); Wanganui, 189 (190); Hawke's Bay, 168 (166); Wellington, 204 (217) ; Nelson, 120 (116); Canterbury, 395 (298); Otago, 208 (211); Southland, 147 (142): total, 2,076 (1,979). The total number of pupils involved was 53,759 (48,622).
