REPORTS.

No. 107, Sess. 2, 1932,—Petition of W. C. E. George and 160 Others. Praying that the payment of miners' widows' pensions be continued. I have the honour to report that, in view of the fact that legislation to meet cases of hardship has been introduced, the Committee has no recommendation to make. 2nd November, 1932. (Referred back to the Committee for further consideration, 2nd November, 1932.)

No. 102, Sess. 2, 1932.—Petition of Mary A. Yerrall. Praying for a miner's widow's pension or other allowance. I am directed to report that in view of the fact that the petitioner's husband was suffering from miner's phthisis at the time of his decease the Committee is of the opinion that the Government should defray his funeral expenses, and therefore recommends that the petition be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 2nd November, 1932.

No. 2, Sess. 2, 1932. —Petition of F. M. Finnegan and 119 Others. Praying that a Proclamation of 1895 declaring the Waihou and Ohinemuri Rivers and certain of their tributaries to be sludge-channels for mining purposes be partially revoked. I have the honour to report that the Committee has carefully considered the petition, and recommends that it be referred to the Government for consideration, but the Committee desires to express the opinion that if the prayer of the petitioners is granted the nining industry on the Upper Waihou will be very prejudicially affected. Furthermore, as there is a large farming community deriving great and necessary advantage from the river, the Committee is of the opinion that the Government, in granting any mining rights, should take steps to protect these interests. 11th November, 1932.

Parliamentary Paper No. 21 (Order in Council amending Regulation under the Mining Act, 1926). I have the honour to report that the Goldfields and Mines Committee, to which was referred the abovementioned parliamentary paper, has carefully considered and approved of the same. 24th November, 1932.

Parliamentary Paper No. 152 (Amended Regulation under the Mining Act, 1926). I have the honour to report that the Goldfields and Mines Committee, to which was referred the abovementioned parliamentary paper, has carefully considered and approved of the same. 24th November, 1932.

No. 213, Sess. 2, 1932. —Petition of Charles Perry, of 6 Kirk Street, Grey Lynn. Praying that he be granted a miner's pension. I have the honour to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration, with a recommendation that the petitioner be granted a compassionate allowance equivalent to a miner's pension until he and his wife qualify for old-age pensions. 24th November, 1932.

No. 107, Sess. 2, 1932. —Petition of W. C. Ē. George, Tailor, of Huntly, and 160 others. (Second Report.) Praying that the payment of miners' widows' pensions be continued. I have the honour to report that the Committee is of the opinion that the petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 24th November, 1932.
