No. 370, 1934-35,—Petition of Edith M. Hunter, of Wellington. Praying for a compassionate grant in consideration of her late husband's services as a member of Parliament. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for most favourable consideration. 25th October, 1935.

No. I.—Petition of C. H. Hogg, of Wellington. Praying for compensation for injuries allegedly sustained while employed by the Post and Telegraph Department and for reinstatement. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for consideration; the Committee considers that as the petitioner's condition is due to his war service he should be granted an additional allowance under the War Pensions Act or the War Veterans Act. 25th October, 1935.

No. 3.—Petition of J. A. Cruickshank, of Palmerston North. Praying for an annual allowance or compensation in consideration of his services as a member of the Police Force. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for most favourable consideration; and the Committee recommends that a compassionate allowance of £300 be granted. 25th October, 1935.

No. 48.—Petition of T. J. Grant and 5 Others (representing the Thorndon Branch of the Unemployed Workers Movement). Praying for increased unemployment sustenance payments. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for most favourable consideration. 25th October, 1935.

No. 50. —Petition of F. W. Garner and Another. Praying for a compassionate allowance on account of injuries allegedly sustained while employed by the Railways Department. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 25th October, 1935.

No. 59.—Petition of C. Leathem, of Hawera. Praying for a compassionate allowance in respect of an injury allegedly received while employed by the Public Works Department. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for most favourable consideration; and the Committee recommends that the law relating to workers' compensation be amended so as to allow of the reopening of such cases as the present one, where it is shown to the Court that the compensation paid is inadequate and circumstances have arisen justifying the payment of additional compensation. 25th October, 1935.

No. 160. —Petition of Maud E. Farr, of Christchurch. Praying that she be granted a full discharge as sane. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration; and the Committee recommends that the Government instruct the Mental Hospitals Department to make further investigation with regard to giving the petitioner a full discharge at the earliest possible date. 25th October, 1935, >
