TREATY FOR THE LIMITATION OF NAVAL ARMAMENT. SIGNED IN LONDON, ON 25th MARCH, 1936.

Presented to both Houses of the General Assembly by Command of IHs Excellency.

The President of the United States of America, the President of the French Republic, and His Majesty the King of Great Britain, Ireland, and the British Dominions beyond the Seas, Emperor of India; Desiring to reduce the burdens and prevent the dangers inherent in competition in naval armament; Desiring, in view of the forthcoming expiration of the Treaty for the Limitation of Naval Armament signed at Washington on the 6th February, 1922, and of the Treaty for the Limitation and Reduction of Naval Armament signed in London on the 22nd April, 1930 (save for Part IV thereof), to make provision for the limitation of naval armament, and for the exchange of information concerning naval construction ; Have resolved to conclude a Treaty for these purposes and have appointed as their Plenipotentiaries:— The President of the United States of America: The Honourable Norman H. Davis; Admiral William H. Standlev, United States Navy, Chief of Naval Operations; The President of the French Republic: His Excellency Monsieur Charles Corbin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic at the Court of St. James; Vice-Admiral Georges Robert, Member of the Supreme Naval Council, Inspector-General of the Naval Forces in the Mediterranean; His Majesty the King of Great Britain, Ireland, and the British Dominions beyond the Seas, Emperor of India: for Great Britain and Northern Ireland and all parts of the British Empire which are not separate Members of the League of Nations: The Right Honourable Anthony Eden, M.C., M.P., His Principal Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs; The Right - Honourable Viscount Monsell, G.8.E., First Lord of His Admiralty;
