ORDER OF REFERENCE. Extract from the, Journals of the House of Representatives. Thursday, the 14th Day of July, 1938. Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to examine into and report upon such questions relating to the public accounts as may be referred to it by the House or the Government, and also into all matters relating to the finances of the Dominion which the Government may refer to it: the Committee to consist of Mr. Barnes, Mr. Broadfoot, the Right Hon. Mr. Coates, Mr. Holyoake, Mr. Howard, Mr. Lee, Mr. McCombs, Mr. Robertson, Mr. Wilkinson, and the Mover." —(Right Hon. Mr. Savage, for Hon. Mr. Nash.) REPORTS. Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Public Accounts Committee desires to record its appreciation of the capable manner in which Mr. E. J. Howard has performed his duties as Chairman of the Committee, and directs that this resolution be reported to the House. C. A. Wilkinson, Member of the Committee. 16th September, 1938. Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Public Accounts Committee wishes to express its satisfaction with the services rendered by Mr. L. C. Dawe, as Clerk of the Committee, and, further, that this resolution be reported to the House. 16th September, 1938. Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Public Accounts Committee, consisting of ten members, has during the session held eight meetings, with an average attendance at each meeting of six members. The estimates of expenditure and the Public Works Statement for the financial year ending 31st March, 1939, were referred to the Committee by the Government for consideration. A total of seventy-two officers of State were summoned before and examined by the Committee on the votes of their respective Departments. Resolutions on the various items of the estimates were agreed to, and reports thereon were referred to the Hon. the Minister of Finance for consideration. E. J.
