REMARKS. (a) Includes annual contribution of £141 to International Refugees Committee. Expenditure for 1939-40 less than anticipated owing to war. £200 estimated to be recovered as credit-inlaid. (b) Expenditure less than anticipated. \ (c) Decrease anticipated in amount of overtime necessary. (d) Additional expenditure to provide for increased rates of postage. (b) Additional printing for Import Control Regulations less than anticipated. (/) Includes expenses of Court case regarding Import Control Regulations and other expenditure not anticipated. (g) Decreased importations by parcels-post. (h) Staff changes less than anticipated. (i) Number of officers, 36 ; travelling-allowances, £551 ; travelling-expenses, £228 ; taxi and motor hire, £8 ; mileage-allowances, £1. Departmental Inspectors retained in Head Office for period to assist in administration of Import Control Regulations. (j) Payment of medical expenses of officers injured on duty, £6 lis. fid. (k) Charges for alterations to accommodation will be payable during 1940-41.
