I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee these two papers should be referred to the Government. 9th August, 1944.

No. 9.—Petition of Turuhira Hinetoia and Another, of Te Karaka Praying that legislation be enacted enabling the Native Land Court to redefine the interests in Mangatu No. 1 Block. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 16th August, 1944.

No. 12.—Petition of Oranoa te Ngaio and 19 Others, of Nuhaka Praying for the enactment of legislation authorizing two Native Land Court Judges to rehear their case in respect of Mahia Block. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration, with a recommendation that an inspection be made by the Court. 16th August, 1944.
