(a) £500 provided on main estimates. Additional amount required to meet expenses of the society. (b) Compensation for injuries received in motor accident by an officer of the Soil Survey Division whilst 011 official duties. (c) £6,320 provided on main estimates. Additional provision required for (1) purchase of leasehold of Tobacco Experimental Area at Umukuri (an annual saving in rent of £110 will result), £960; (2) purchase of a boiler for the steam sterilization of soil at the Tobacco Research Station, £320 ; (3) construction of seed-driers for Agronomy Division, Lincoln, £800 : total, £2,080. («I) £3,085 provided 011 main estimates. Additional amount required to meet salaries and service charges incurred by the Cawthron Institute on behalf of the Department. (e) Cost of passage and expenses of ohemist and his wife from the United Kingdom to New Zealand. The cost of the wife's passage (£lO7 3s. 9d.) and one-half of that of the officer, United Kingdom to New Zealand (£92), is recoverable.
