PART VI.—EAST COAST NATIVE TRUST LANDS During the year under review a number of the leased portions of East Coast Trust blocks have reverted to the Commissioner upon the expiry of leases and are now being farmed on behalf of the beneficial owners. These blocks are — Parts Mangaheia 2d Block Acres. By the reversion of these lands to the direct control of the Commissioner his farming operations have been enlarged to embrace an additional area of 25,994 acres. During the year further developmental work on manuka country has been carried out both on Tawapata South No. 1 Block (Onenui Station) and on the Mangatu No. 1 Block. By the use of tractors and giant disks a further area of 800 acres to 900 acres of previously non-productive land is now carrying crops of turnips and chou moellier for winter feeding.
