No. 21.—Petition of L. A. Adams, of 4 Hastings Parade, Devonport, Auckland Praying that New Zealand do not permit its sovereignty to be usurped by joining international organizations. I have the honour to report that the Public Petitions A to L Committee has carefully-considered this petition, and has no recommendation to make. 1st August, 1947.

No. 2.—Petition of Elizabeth L. "Lamb, of 44 Waiohua Road, One Tree Hill, Auckland Praying for relief in respect of alleged victimization by police officers. I have the honour to report that the Public Petitions A to L Committee has carefully considered this petition, and recommends that it be referred to the Government for consideration. The Committee is of the opinion that the Police Department's procedure in compiling lists of previous convictions" should be investigated with a view to avoiding a recurrence. 6th August, 1947.

No. 73/1946. —Petition of C. W. G. Campbell, of Raumati Beach Praying for compensation for loss caused by the effects of war service. I have the honour to report that the Public Petitions A to L Committee has carefully considered this petition, and recommends that subclause (a) of section 16 of the petition praying that " three months' retiring-leave, valued at approximately one hundred and six pounds five shillings, be granted," be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 6 th August, 1947.

No. 6.—Petition of C. J. W. Lockie, of 404 Knight Street, Hastings Praying for payment of the balance of superannuation allegedly withheld. I have the honour to report that the Public Petitions A to L Committee has carefully considered this petition, and, as a question of Government policy is involved, it has no recommendation to make. 20th August, 1947.

No. 1.—Petition of S. G. Adams, of 21 St. Benedict's Street, Auckland Praying for inquiry into conduct of certain police officers, and for compensation. I have the honour to report that the Public Petitions A to L Committee has carefully considered this petition, and, as the petitioner has not exhausted his legal remedy, it has no recommendation to make. 20th August, 1947.

No. 26.—Petition of Sarah Allison Kibblewhite, of Christchurch Praying for relief in respect of the payment of succession duties. I have the honour to report that the Public Petitions A to L Committee has carefully considered this petition, and recommends that it be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 27th August, 1947.
