The Director-General of Lands to the Hon. Minister op Lands. Department of Lands and Survey, "Wellington, Bth July, 1949. Sir I have the honour to submit my report for the year ended 31st March-, 1919, in terms of section 109 of the Land for Settlements Act, 1925. The acquisition of land for settlement of ex-servicemen is still a major activity of the Department. Purchases of land for this purpose are, in accordance with Government policy, being made under the provisions of the Small Farms Act, 1932-33, while action to acquire suitable areas compulsorily is being taken under the Servicemen's Settlement and Land Sales Act, 1943. Details of properties purchased and acquired in this manner will be found in the annual report on Settlement of Crown Lands (C-l).
