Extract? from flie Journals of the House of Representatives Friday tub Bth Day op July, 1949 Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of nine members, to whom all Local Bills shall stand referred after the first reading ; the Committee to report whether the Standing Orders have been complied with, whether the rights and prerogatives of the Crown are in any way affected by the provisions of the Bills, and to recommend such amendments as it may think proper, and to report, when necessary, on the merits of the Bills ; the Committee to have power to confer with any Committee appointed for a similar object by the Legislative Council: the Committee to consist of Mr. Anderton, Mr. Coleman, Mr. Hudson, Mr. Macfarlane, Mr. Massey, Mr. Neale, Mr. Sheat, Mr. Smith, and the Mover." —(Hon. Mr, Parry.) Friday, the 22nd Day of July, 1949 Ordered, " That the Fire Services Bill be referred to the Local Bills Committee."—(Hon. Mr. Parry.) Wednesday, the 10th Day of August, 1949 Ordered, "That, with respect to the Christchurch Tramway District Amendment Bill, Standing Order 366 be suspended in so far as it relates to the number of days from the commencement of the session within which Local Bills may be introduced, and that the Bill be allowed to be introduced and to proceed."—(Mr. Macfarlane.) Ordered, "That, with respect to the Whangarei Milk Authority Empowering Bill, Standing Order 366 be suspended in so far as it relates to the number of days from the commencement of the session within which Local Bills may be introduced, and that the Bill be allowed to be introduced and to proceed."—(Mr. Murdoch.) Thursday, the 18th Day of Auoust, 1949 Ordered, " That, with respect to the Bluff Harbour Board Empowering Bill, Standing Order 366 be suspended in so far as it relates to the number of days from the commencement of the session within which Local Bills may be introduced, and that the Bill be allowed to be introduced and to proceed." —(Mr. Herron.) Friday, the 19th Day of August, 1949 Ordered, " That the name of Mr. Coleman be discharged from the Local Bills Committee, and that of Mr. Armstrong substituted therefor." —(Hon. Mr, Parry.)
