A CANINE DETECTIVE.
Gentleman (indignantly, to dog seller): ‘I gave you a high price for this dog because you guaranteed it to be a splendid watch dog. My house was broken inti last night, and the animal never even barked.' Dog Seller: ‘No, sir; he was too busy lookin’ at the burglars, so as to be able to identify ’em, to think of barkin’. If you was out with this dorg, and was to meet them burglars, he’d know ’em in a minute. He ain’t no common barkin’ dorg ; he’s a reg’let detective, and worth ’is weight in gold.’
