A Cruel Trick.
•— ■■ ♦ A horrible case ot cruelty is reported m the English papers. A. Mr Davies had sent fifteen of his young stock to graze m a field a considerable distance from the house. During the night eleven of the cattle were aoparently driven to a shed m the fieM, and there their tails were tied together m bunches oi threes and fours. The cattle soon began to struggle and pull to get free, with the result that m several cases the tails came off. All along the field there were marks of the poor animals trying to regain their liberty, blood being plentifully spilt. It turned out to be the result of pure mischief on the part of two boys, aged twelve and ten years, who were apprehended and taken before the justices ; but as the prosecutor did not press the case, their father was bound over to bring them up for judgment jf called upon.
