! Timaku, February 12. ' At the Supreme Court, after a trial lasting nearly two days, the charge against John Campbell ot stealing ninety sheep from his next door neighbor, T. P. Wooding, resulted m an acquittal. This concludes the criminal business. One civil case has to be heard. Wellington, February 12. The Chief Justice quashed the ponviction entered by the Magistrate against John McDennott. During the strike Mcbermott was charged with, assaulting a free laborer, and sentenced to two months' hard labor on each ot three charges, tho sentences to be cumulative. McDermotb has served one sentence, and it wasfroin theothershe, appealed, His Honor ruling that tljo verdict was, against tlje weight of evidence.
