Judge Qrantham sentenced JV^r-a Turner, toother of falter Turner, %he L.eeds murderer, to penal servitude for life on the grounds that she was accessory after the fact because she shielded her son after the murder. The terrible severity of the sentence caused a loud outcry, and the press were unanimous in a scathing condemnation of the Judge. The result is that the sentence has now been altered to twelve months' imprisonment. " Reynolds' Newspaper " contrasted the conduct of Mrs Turner with that of the Prince of Wales in shielding Sir W. GordonGumming. The matter was brought up in the House of Commons, but Mr Goscheri refused to Waste time in debating a motion on the subject. THE PRINCE OF NAPLES. London, Augusts.
