Ottawa, August 4. The Canadian Government have decided to grant a substantial bounty for the growing of beet sugar. The bounty wifl be paid for two years. CORRUPTION IN CANADA. Ottawa, Augtust 5. The Hon. Mr Mercer, Q.C., Premier and Commissioner of Agriculture, of Quehec, has been charged with misappropriating for the use of the Liberals the sum of 175,000 dollars belonging to the Chateause railway. An enquiry has been ordered in the matter.
