BAKERS' CONFERENCE.
CASH COUPONS RECOMMENDED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHUBCH, this day. The bakers' conference has recommended the general adoption of the cash coupon system. Several delegates, in thecourse of discussion, stated their experience was that when the system was first: introduced, a certain amount of trade waslost, but in time it all came back again. One difficulty to contend with related to old customers; who might be temporarily embarrassed through unemployment. 'However, this difficulty was. overcome by bakers in-various districts supplying these customers in turn, and; receiving payment when the stress was removed. .-It was stated that bakers who did not.adopt the cash coupon system had had occasion to. complain that they were getting a number of bad debts on. their books, as good- customers pre- ! ; ferrett bakers who had adopted the' system; which secured certain advantages to consumers. .It was found that the cash coupon system was more economical for customers, who, were also protected by it from the possibility of paying for.; more bread than they , actually received.
