CHRIS rCHURCH. Wbdnksday, March 30. (Before R. M. Taylor and W. W. Tanner, Esqrs., J.P.s). Dbunkbhnbss.—Mary Butler alias McMahon, who had been released from gaol only the previous day, was cautioned and discharged. A man not before convioted was lined ss, or, in default, twenty-four hours' imprisonment. Robbery from thb Pbrsoh.—John Wihon, for whom Mr Donnelly appeared, was charged with stealing a purse containing £2 from James Moncrieff. The evidence was that on the morning of March 26th the parties were in the bar of the Wellington Hotel. Monorieff was sitting on a bench with his head resting on his hands. Hβ was drunk. The accused sat beside him. Two witnesses swore they caw the accused put his hand into Monorieff'e breast pocket and take out a parse, afterwards going out of the hotel and down a right-of-way, where, on the following day, the empty purse was fonnd. The accused denied the offence, bnt was not pat in the box, and no evidence was called for him. He was sentenced to threetnonths' imprisonment with hard labour.

Alleged Theft or a Watch.—Two small boys, for one of whom Mr Donnelly appeared, were charged with stealing a wafcoh and chain, valued at £4, the property of Geo. Sherwood. Tho prosecutor, on March sth, while working by the roadside in Lincoln road, placed his coat, in which was the watch, on a gorse fence. Ou examining the coat in the evening the watch was gone, and was two days plater given up by the mother of one of the boys, she having received it from a third boy, to whom it had been pointed oat by one of the accused. The defence was that one of the boys took out the watuh to see the time and dropped it in the fence. They were cautioned and discharged.

Allkgkd Assaults.—Joseph and Maria Wolsey, father and daughter, were charged with assaulting Margaret McCraoken, and Hugh MoCraoken was charged with assaulting Joseph Woleey. Mr Donnelly appeared for the McCraokens. Much contradictory evidence was heard and both charges were dismissed.
