MANUAL AND TECHNICAL INSTRUCTION.
The special committee of the North Canterbury Education Board, set up to consider the question of the extension in its district of manual and technical education submitted at yesterday's meeting, the following resolution, which it was agreed to forward to the Government:—" That the Government be requested to grant the sum of £1566 18s from the Parliamentary grant for manual and technical education. The following centres have requested the Board to establish schools for these purposes at an early date:—Lyttelton, 15 benches and tools, £58 6s; Rangiora, 10 benches and tools, £39; Aehburton, 15 benches and tools, £58 6s ; Lincoln, 10 benches and tools, £39; RakaiaSouth, 10 benches and tools, £39; KaiaEji, 15 benohes and tools, £58 6s; £291185. yttelton, necessary buildings, £250; Rangiora, necessary buildings, £175; Ashburton, necessary buildings, £250; Lincoln, necessary buildings,; £175; Rakaia South, necessary buildings, £175; Kaiapoi, necessary buildings, £250 ; £1275. Total, £1566 18s. The Committee is of opinion that this matter is of great importance in the districts mentioned, and trusts the Department will give this matter their favour* able consideration." The report was unanimously adopted.
