ONE RIDER SERIOUSLY INJURED. COLEMAN HAS AN ACCIDENT.
WELLINGTON, Last night. Ideal weather prevailed on Saturday for ihe Kilbirnie stadium speedway sports and 10,000 people were present. During tlie raoes Dave Managli, ot Halcombe, side-slipped and fell. Max Graham Australia, following close behincl, rau over Managli, breaking the latter's thigh. Ho turned a complete somersault, macliine and all, and fell heavily, but escaped with sligbt injurios to tlie mouth. Graham's macliine was wrecked. Dlanagb was takeu to liospital slightly dazed. A new mile record was established by Jack Arnott, Bay View,, from a" flying start. His time was 1 2-5 seconds faster tlum the record established recentiy by Gus Clifton, Australia. The Speedway Farewell Handicap, £20, £10 aftcl £5 was won by C. 11. McKenzie, J. Arnott second and F. Spencer third. A grand invitation match race, £10, was also won by C. R. McKenzie, Tui Morgan second. Kilminister fell. A spccial match, one mile, £20, was won by J. Arnott. Unfortunateiy his opponent C. R. McKenzie developed engine troublo, Percy C'oleman, Wanganui, New Zealand champion grass track rider, made liis first appcarance on the dirt track. He had only a trial spin in the afternoon and was ill at ease on the dirt track. Iie finished second in his heat of the Farewell Handicap, but was only third in the scmi-final. In tlie second heat of tlie grand invitation, one mile, he fell heavily.
