SHOOTING SEASON
BEFORE A CCL1 M ATIS ATION SOCIETY. Notification of tbe regulations governing tbe shooting season in tbe society's distriet, ffivbicb opens 011 May 1, as gazetted, were received by tbe Hawke's Bay Acclimatisation Society at its nieeting last nigbt. Sonje of the main provisions are : — The number of imported game and native game tbat may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day shall not exceed five cock pheasants, 20 Californian quail, 10 Australian quail, five mallard duek and 25 liead in all of grey duck, widgeon and black swan. Shooting may begin not earlier than one liour before sunrise and must cease not later than oue hour after sunset. No live birds of any species sball be used as decoys, nor shall more than 25 artificial decoys be used at any oue time (wbether by one or several persons), on any particular water within an area of less than 100 yards square. No person sball use any power boat or launch in connection with tbe taking or killing of game. Anvone committing a breaeh of tbe conditions is liable to a fine of £20.

Tlie Federal Prime Minister (MjBruce) states tbat the Government was considering the despatch of the sea plane carrier Albatross to make a ctetailed search of tbe north-west coastline. Tlie hesitancy is due to tbe iact tbat it would take ten days to reacb tbe scene of operations, but tbe iuea bas not been abandoned. There is no fresb news to-nigbt from Wyndham or Derby.
