WELLINGTON. Last night. Mr F. L. Combs, headmaster of Mount Cook Scliool, in an address at lc-night's meeting ot the Wellington Scliool Committees' Association, said, "I clefy anyone to show in regard to children or universitv students that French has any real value to any more than a very small proportion. Not more than one per cent benefit by the learning of French. It is a criminal waste, for which the autliorities should be brouglit to book and required to sliow the practical value of French if its teaching were admitted to primary schools."
