TOOK A BOY'S TYPEWRITER. SIX MOXTHS' IMPRISONMENT.
AUCKLAND, This dav. "'This is a most desgieable act, and I cannot say anything in favour or a man who steals from the blind." said Detective-Sergeant T. Ivelly about M illiam Cajile (49). a labeurer, who appeared at the Police Court, pleading guilty to a cliarge of stealing a typewriter valued at £15 011 April 15. Mr Kolly added that Caple went to tlie Jubilee Institute for the Blind on Mondav last to see his son, wlio is an inmate of tliat institution. While tliere lie stole a typewriter belonging to Lionel Boyce. Tliis he pawned. He also stole anotlier machine belonging to liis son and sold it, but he was not cliarged with this offence. "I notice that lie lias seven previous convicitions, including ono for breaking. entering and tlieft," said Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., after lie had glanccd at Caple's record of crime. "He has not been out of gaol very long, either," Detective-Sergeant Kelly: No. sir, his occiqiation is that of a professional tliicf. Caple was sent to gaol for six montlis.
