Super fine wool was a shade lower than in February but medium and inferior wools showed a slight advance. * * * A motion to have legislation brought down to prevent the carrying of sheep in motor lorries at night was passed ar, the last meeting of the Canterbury A. and P. Society. Some of the slieepfarmers present at the meeting considered that the practice of permitting sheep to be transported at night presented too large an opening to sheep stealers. 9 * * Fat sheep brought high prices at Stortford Lodge sale last week, due no doubt to the scarcity of good killing sheep. 9 9 9 Store sheep were in demand at Addington this week and showed an advance of Is to Is Gd per head on last week's rates. » • « Fat stock rates remained unchangcd. Fat cattle sold. on a basis of 42s 6d to 45s for lOOlbs for good quality with extra good up to 47s, * * * At Burnside fat cattle met with a keen demand and advanced in price from 15s to 20s a head, * 9 ® The Tasmanian potato crop has suffered as a result of the recent floods there.
