EROM AUCKLAND TO WELLINGTON. WRIGHT PUTS UP GOOD TIME.

.WELLLSGION. Last mght. Stan. M'right, a proiuinent member of the Port Nieholson Cyciing Club, suceeeded in breaking the existing eycle rceord from Auckland to Wellington by over 9 liours 37 minutes. Wright lei't Auckland on Thursday morning last at 8 am., accompanied by a car driven by Alr A. J. C'ouchman. along with lii.s trainer, Mr D. McFederis and Alr 14. 1). London, a representative of tlie Wellington centre of the N.Z.A.A.A. He left Auckland at 8 a.m. and arrived at Awakino at 12.40 a.m. Here a rest was made for 7 hours 20 minutes. On Fridav ab 8 a.m., Wright lclt 011 liis journey to Wanganui, a distance of 153 miles, whieh point was reaclied at 9 26 p.m., after battling with a strong head wind for the best part of tlie day. A spell of seven and a-quarter hours saw Wright leave Wanganui at 4.45 a.m. to eover tlie last part of his record journey. A stiff southerly wind was cncountered for the entire distance, making tlie travelling very severe, but Wright proved himself to be made of the right mettle and he rode into Wellington at a good 15 miles per liour, rcacliing the General Post Office at 4.5 p.m. 011 Saturday. Jntcrviewed at the coiielusion of liis record attempt, Wright stated that he liad a battle against tlie wind for the entire distance and found the conditions for the lirst two days very tryintc. Bad ' roads and hills, combined with the wind," made the travelliiig slow. Over the last part of the distance, Wright rode strongly and elimbed Paekakariki liill in 27 minutes, two ♦minutes over his ordinary training time .
