WELLINGTON, Last night. I11 answer to a request to the AYellington AVar Memorial Carillon Society that the carillon he lent to the British fndustries Exhibitioii at Newcastlc for six months, the iollowing reply has been sent: — "That the carillon he made ayailable to tlie Newcastlc Empire Exhihition authorities in ternis and conditions stated in the communication from the Trcasury, datcd April 11, 1929." Tliis nieans that the Carillon Sojjoty is willing to allow the AYellington war memorial carillon to hc loaned to t!,p Newcastle Empire Exhihition authorities as urged by the High Commissioner, witliqut cost. The society has agreed to this proposal, helieving ar; it docs that the carillon, beino; in the nature of a war niomorial, will be fulfilling its mission eqiiall.v to the great population of Ihe Mother ('ountry for the period liamed as it will when' ultiniatelv ei'ccted in its permanent home in Wellington.
