ANOTHER RESERVOIR
CITY COUNCIL SEEKIXG A LOAN. The Napier City Council lias for some time been considering the question of enlarging its water storage accommodation. The council has been planning the providing of additional low level reservoir storage; providing a pumping station adjacent to the electric power station ; and installing liigh and low life centrifugal pumps for pumping into the new re-servoir. At its meeting last night the council took a further step toward finality and decided tliat steps be taken to obtain the sanction of the Local Government Loans Boavd to the council taking a poll of the ratepayers 011 the question of raising a loan of £12,150, to provide the following : — Twelve incli gravitation main valves and fittings, Nelson and AIcLean parks to power station, £1500; pumping station pump and storage tank at power station, £2100; pumping mains to Napier Terrace and new reservoir, £2400; new reservoir. also valves and fittings, £4300; purchaxe of land, survev and legal expcnses. £1300; contingencies, £250; totnl, £12.150. Tlic council also decided tliat the District Public Trustee be informed that the council is prepared to take possession of the area acquired from Oliver's Kstate for a reservoir site as soon as the estate is in a position to give a title with legal access to Enfield road over the proposed new road.
