On a charge of being unlawfullv 011 lic-ensed premises after liours, Frederick George Brinson pleaded not guilty at tlie Hastings Magistrate s Court this liiorning before Mr A. M. Mowlem, S.M. Senior-Sergeant Dempsev prosecutecl, Mr E. J. Hallett appearing for defendant. Constables Craigie and Alsop gave evidence that they saw defendant eome out of the rear gate ot the Albert Hotel at 11.21) p.111. 011 April 1. Defendant had two bottles oi beer in liis pocket. Defendant was 111 eonipany witli two othei- men. The defetice was that defendant went into the liotel to bring the otlier two nieii out. The otlier two were liis Iriencls and he went lor tlicni as a friendlv action. The two bottles oi hcer lie liad, were purchaised at the Waverley Hotel. He made 110 attempt to get iiquor from the Albert Hotel. About t>ix bottles ot beer were purcbased from the Waverley Hotel. Pliilip R. Walden gave evidence that cTcTendant purchased two bottles of beer at the Waverley Hotel. His Worship said he had no doubt that defendant was uulawfully 011 the premises and inflicted a fine of £2, costs 10s.
