ANZAC DAY OBSERVANCE.
"BRITISHER."
To tlie Editor. Sir, — Tn view of the fact that Anzac Day is b.v law compellecl to be observed " as a "strict boliday, it came as a considerable surprise to me last year to see quite a few vendors of foodstnffs remain open to cater to the public, while the shops in general were compelled to remain closed. Even if Ihe sliopkeeper.s who were open for business did not lose any loved ones in tlie Great AVar, tlie lcast they could do would be to respect tlie fcelings_ of tliose who bad, and wlio were clevotiug tlie day to tbc purposo for which it was set aside — namely, that of respectrr "flio /Innfl -f 9111 of.P. .
