At Otane.
There was a large attendance nfc the Anzac service at Otane, although the rain was heavy all the morning and continued all day. Mr Barrie presided at the service in the Town Hall. Mr ('. G. Harker, president of the Waipawa brnneh of the R.S.A., gave an interesting address. Tho Rev. R. T. Hall also gave an address. Both stressed the need for ohserving and cultivating the spirit of Anzac Day and tlie necessitv of carrying on the work and keepiug the torcii alight that was liglited by the men who i'ell in tho Great War, and doing all tliat is possible to hring international peace to the world. Mr Cos'grove sounded tlie "Last Post." In the afternoon a large number of Otane residents journeyed to Waiimkiirau to he present at the function of presenting tho eolours to tlie 1st Hawke's Bay Rogiment. It is a great pity that the weather eoriclitioiis were so had ior what would be in fine weather such a spectacular ceremony.
