YOUNG GIRL SHOT

FOUND IN SEMI-CONSCIOUS CONDITION. WOUND UNDER HEART.
AUCKLAND. This day. Florence Horne, aged 19, was admitted to the Auckland Hospital this morning with a bullet wound undei the heart in the left brea.st. _ At 10.30 o'clock she fell against the door of the residence of Mr Edward Faliey, of Bombay, a farmer. She was m a semi-conscious condition and was clcthed in a light frook. - Sergeant Cowan, of Pukekohe, and Dr. MeWhirter attencled to the girl. A seareli resulted in the discovery of a rifle standing up against a diain near the house. The police liave tracecl ed the ownership of tlie weapon. IMiss Horne liad been living with her sister at Onehunga till a lew weeks ago, when she vvent to stay ui-u liiends at Ararimu. Slie was to have left them for a y'tuation last Eriday and ihe last thev saw of her wus when she lett on Saturday niglit to attend a dance at Pokeno. . , ~ Cliicf Detective Hamniond and Detoctives Sullivan and Nalder lett toi Bombay early this morning to make niquiries. , , . ,, Inspector Hollis says tliat so far the policc inquirics indicate no reason to sufcpect foul plav. The girl in a statement at the hospital, said that the shooting was accidental. An operation was perfonned but her condition is serious^
