WELLINGTON, This day. The Union Company lias received advice of a serious fire in No. 4 hold of their ehartered steamer, Sussex, which left Sainarang on Eriday morning on her way for Calcutta and Auckland. r . AVhen the extent of the fire was ascertained, the vessel put back to Sainarang, wliere she arrived 011 Friday evening. . The after part of tlie steamer has heen flooded and it ivas hoped to extinauish the fire hy yesterdav. The cargo is principallv nce, bone meal and pineapples, and as soon as the fire is extinguislied the cargo in the hold will he discliarged.
