BETWEEN PRODUCER AND CONSUMER. New Movement In America.
WASHINGTON, July 16. Mr Alexander Legge, president of th© Farm Board, has announced that first policy the new hOard has agreed upon will be that of building up cooperative associations in order to eliminate the middlematt and bring the producer and consumer into direct confcact. It is hoped this programme will bring greater profits to the producer without increasing prices to the consumer. In tbe meantime, in order to fchoroughly study the co-operative system, the aiding of which through Government funds will be the chief purpose of the Farm Relief Act, members of the board will meet the American Institute of Co-operation at Baton Rouge, in Louisiana, on July 29.
