Famous Austrian's Tragic Death.
VIENNA, July 16. Hugo von Hofittanstahe, the wellknown AtLStrian poet, who wrote the libretto for Strauss' opera "Rosenkavalier,'5 as well as other Strauss operas, died in most tragic circumstances on returning from the funeral of his son, Franz, who was in the early twenties, and who committed suicide by shooting on Saturday because lie was unable to find a congenial job. Hugo's death is attributed to apoplexy, but suicide is suspected.
