"LOVER OF DUMB ANIMALS."

To the Editor. Sir, — Some days ago there appeared in the columns of your paper a statement that some unscrupulous motor driver had run over a cat, and although. not killed outright, it was left in pain and suffering. Well, sir, I just wish to say that another of these motor fiends has repeated this offence quite near to my plaee, only in this case the cau lived but a few seconds. Now, sir, there seems to be quite a mania to destroy the faithful eat, irrespective of How valuable he may be. For instance, I have had two valuable cats poisoned or destroyed during the iast two months, and as no one has advertiseh the laying of poison in their gardens, I take it for granted that there is a cat fiend in our neighbourhood who is trying to destroy all cats but his own. Well, I just wish to inform this fiend that if my next cat disappears I will take a very drastic step to get even, so will this culprit, who is a resident" of Nelson Crescent or McV ay street/, please take notice, and leave the poop cats alone in future. — I am etc.,

Nelson Crescent, Julv 17, 1929.
