Dr. H. M. Wilson advanced the matter, saving that the medical sub-com-mittee had recommcnded that the nursing staff should.be brought up to a certain percentage of the patients, after tlie conditions ruling at Dunedin. He was amazed to fiml, however, when the estimates were being prepared, tliat thore was little improvement. Mr H. Hill : We completed tlie top ■ storey of tlie nurses' home so that we could bring tlie nursing staff up to strength. Members asked how many nurses had been added to tbe staff, Dr. J. AUan Berry replying tbat the nursing staff ha"d been augmented from 85 to 95. Members voic-ed the opinion that it had been intended to bring tlie staff up to 100 on the basis of a 225 bed hospital.
