CANTERBURY MEETING CONCLUDED.

CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. The Canterbury Jockey Club's National meeting was concluded in fine weather. There was a very large attendance and the eourse was in good order. In the Longbeach Handicap, Leader was out clear of the field _ a furlong froni the post and won easily by two lengths, with Blue Metal two lengths away, a length in front of Dutcli Money. Tourist and Pat's Bay were next. In the Aylesbury Steeples the field was led by Kaikahu until the second to ^;t fenee had been jumped. Birkck ran up to Kaikahu and went on bo win easily by six lengths. Silver Light was ten lengths away and Mataipuke was fourth. In. the Sydenham Hurdles, Locarno dropped back beaten in the straight. Red Fuclisia was showing the way over the last hurdle and won easily by two lengths from Elysianor, who stalled off a late run by Perle De Leon by bait a length. Mangani was only a neck away. The time, 3min. 37 4-5secs., was a Kew Zealand record. . . . In the Styx Hurdles Paris joined Gala Day in the lead at the entrance to the straight, Aurora- Boreahs being iust behind them. Paris commenced to tire after jumping the last hurdle and A-urora Borealis got up m the last strides to beat Gala Day by a head. Paris was three lengths away. . The favourite m the Lincoln Steeples. Young Thurnham, tailed ott early. Wiltshire opened out a gap of half a dozen lengths after jumping the sod wall.
