In spite of tlie little controversy ovcr the pruning of the trees 011 the approach to Havelock it may be seen now that the work has comiiienced that it in capable hands the work may be done without spoiling tbe appearance of the avenue. If the trees ara allowed to grow too niuch witliout being pruned the effects of cutting them baek severely would be far more noticeable tban the caietul pruning which is being adniinistered at present. ______ .
