A DESERTED PLACE
McLEAN PARK PRESENTS UNUSUAL SIGHT. CRICKET WTCKET BEING PREPARED. McLean Park, headquarters ofj Hawke's Bay Rugby activity, presented an unusual sight Saturday axternooii there being a total absence of the' jerseyed figures on the playing area and the watching thousan(U in the stands that has been the usual thing to see there for sonie months. Rugby, so far as Napier is concerned ended the week before, and the only occupants of the park* on Saturday. were a couple of borough horses turned out there to graze. In the centre of the park is a fenced off area where the superintendent of reserves, Mr C. Corner, is preparing the cricket wicket in case it is decided to play games there this season. The Hawke's Bay Cricket Association has in mind a proposal to play the game between Hawke's Bay and the touring Englishmeu there this season,and it has also been suggested. that club matches mav eventuate there. In addition. of course, the park will he used by tlie Napier Amateur .AthJetic Club in its fortnightly running and cycling meetings.
