Jt was a .strenuous day 1'or ihe stall-holders, but they luul tlie salisl'action of Jcnowing that they were working in a wortliy cause and that their efl'orts were very higlily succes.sl'ul and greatly appreciated As lar as ihe stalls were coucenied, niuch was done, to siock them in tlie wav of gilts, but the greater ]>aiL of tlie goods were furnislied by tlie membei's of St. Mattliew'-s "Women.' s Guild, wlio for live montbs had worked ivitli untiring energy in making a wonderful array of useful and beautiful articlcs whieh were readily disposed of. "Bargains" were ifeafuves of the stalls. but during the day* there was a lot of i'un caused by tbe various coinpetitious. Tlie competition for tbe weight of a slieep donated by Mr Yyuer i\;is divided hetwecn Mrs Mor-timer-Jones, Alrs Bourgcois, and Mrs T. H. Gill, wliilst the iced cake was won bv 41 us F. S. Candv. At the couclusion, all tlie goods unsold were auctioued by 41 r j. Landels, and when tho auction was coniplctcd there were not many articles left unsold. A ispecial word of praise is dne to 41rs 4rortimer-Jone.s, wlio framed nlniosl 200 pictures for sale. and tlie l'act that very few of tliese were Iblt, was a testimony to the work of her del't and able fingers. N'aluable a-ssist-ance was also rentlered by Mr Bertram Fleniing. wlio decoraled tlie stalls. and also by 4tiss F.
