HERETAUNGA CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING TO-NIGHT. Tlie following is the annual report ef the Heretaunga Swimming Club, whieh is to he presented at the club's annual meeting to-night : — "During the year the club held only one open carnival, one at whieh I. W. Cameron, sprint cliampion and record liolder of the Dominion, appeared, and those wlio were privileged to attend tliat carnival must certainly have had great value for their admission. Further. for tlie first time in many years, the Hawke's Bay provincial championsliips were held in the Maddison baths, and besides providing two excellent niglits' aquatic sport, also resulted in a record suceess linaiioially. "During tbe season — altliougli hampered to a great extent by untavourable weather — the various cups and trophies were coinpcted for. "The season 's workings resulted in a slight loss but the club is fortunately in a very sound position financially, and ean readily absorb this deficiency. i'he memhership during the past season was 209, whieh was an inerease of 21 on the previous season and must he considered very satisfactorv. "During the season we held a most successful "learn to swim" campaign, wlien with the assistauce of the press and many willing lielpers, both inside and outside of the cluh, somc 300 arlults and children were sehooled in tbe art of swimimng. This feature was a decided succe^s, and tlie majority of tliese pupils were able to strilie out on their own by the end of the periocl. To those who put in so much of their time to lielp in tliis work we are extreinelv grateful.
