Sandeman have returned to Waipawa from -a visit to Wairoa. Mr Sandeman has made a rapid recovery from his motor accident and is now ablo to get about with the assistance of a walkmg stick. Mr F. J. Witherow's resignation from the Waipukurau Hospital Board was acccpted -with regret at yesterday s meeting of that hody._ Mr Witherov gave as his rcason his disagreement with tlie board' s policv in expressing approval of the manner in which the hospital staff carried out its duties after a complaint had heen made to tlie lioard. The Rev. A. R. H. Morris, of _St. Barnadas, Reading, is shortly leavmg England to fill an appointment at Taupo. He was met recently hy the members of his congregation and was presented with a portable altar and a cheque for £36 16s, the gifts of the congregation. The altar, which is ot oalc, fold's into quite a small hox, leaving space for surplice and stom. Besides the Cross, there are brass flower vases, fair lmen and a small Communion set, including silver chalice, patent cruets and wafer.-box. Mr Jamos D. Jacohs. has heen appointed managing director of the Atlahtie ITnion Oil Co., Ltff., at Sydney. Prior to to Australia he was associated with the \tlanti8 Refining Company of Bhiladelphia for a numbcr of years, and served as a naval officer during the war.
