iMOTORIST STR1KES TROUBLE. HEAVY PUNISHMENT INFLICTED. Malville Cunningham was charged at the Hastings Magistrate's Court yesterday before Mr A. M. Mowlem, S.M., with, 011 June 29, negligently driving li moior car on the HastingsHavelock road. Jilr L. A. Rogers appeared for defendant, who pleaded no't guilty. Senior-Sergeant Dempsey said that on June 29 last at about 5.30 p.m. three boys were riding from St. Andrew's road into Heretaunga street, when defendant, in a car, struck one of tlie bicycles, seriously injuring one of the hoys. Defendant was seen that night and admitted that lie had had a drink or two, but it was not suggested that lie was intoxicated. The lad Brooker, who was injured, has been^in hospital for some time. After hearing the evidence, His Worship said lie was satisfied that defendant has been guilty of negligence and infiicted a fine of £o, costs £1.12s. Defendant's license was also cancelled and be was .prohibited from securing a new license until April 1, 1931.
